Voice, Violin

Jeanne MJeanne Coventry Machin recently relocated to the Tampa area from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she was an active soloist, choral singer,choral conductor and private teacher. She solos for various church and private organizations, and was a former member of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, concert choir of choice for the famed Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, has served as a professional core member and soloist for the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh, and was also a member of the Ambrose Romano Singers in Pittsburgh. She has maintained a private studio, teaching both violin and voice, for 12 years.

Jeanne has been playing violin for 25 years, particularly enjoying ensemble work in orchestras and quartets, most recently the Angelus Quartet in Pittsburgh, PA. Her students have ranged in age from 4 years old to 70+. She enjoys teaching a wide variety of music, focusing on Suzuki-based techniques and branching out to fiddle-style playing, both Celtic and Folk.

Jeanne received numerous performance awards while at Brigham Young University, graduating from there with a B.A. in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy. She was active in opera programs, playing Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, Laeticia in The Old Maid and the Thief, Charity Barnum in Barnum as well as various small scene roles. She has taught students of all ages and levels, and is comfortable working with music of nearly all genres, such as classical art song, opera, oratorio, musical theater, jazz, country, pop and even rock.

Jeanne resides in Valrico with her husband, Richard, and three children, Elijah, Benjamin, and Abigail.
